Getting Started on Folia

A quick guide to help you get started on the Folia app

Welcome to the Folia Health community! ๐ŸŒฑ Folia is your free, personalized health tracking app - built to help you track what matters most and capture what happens in everyday life, not just during appointments.

You're in the right place if your Journal is set up and you're ready to start tracking!

  1. Track today! Open your Journal and check-in to track how today went. It takes about 90 seconds or less to track your day in Folia. Answer a few questions about your symptoms, record what treatments or medications you took or skipped, and add any other context about your day that feels relevant.   2. Come back tomorrow (or whenever you have something to add). That's it for now! The most important thing is building the habit of tracking in a way that makes sense for you. If you'd like, you can set up tracking reminders. Here's how to set one up:

    • Open the Folia app and go to the Profile tab (bottom right of screen)

    • Tap Account Management

    • Tap Notification Settings

    • Toggle on the reminders you'd like - including real-time tracking reminders and scheduled treatment reminders.

  3. Check that your setup feels right. Once you've tracked for a few days, take a quick look at your Observations and Treatments to make sure they reflect what matters to you. You can always add, rename, or remove something over time. You can edit your Observations and Treatments in your Journal at any time - your Journal setup can evolve as you do.

  • ๐Ÿ’กInsights: With each tracking entry in Folia, you automatically build your Insights tab and Calendar Filters - surfacing trends, flare patterns, symptom severities, and more. You don't need months of data; even a handful of consistent entries can reveal patterns worth paying attention to. Learn more about leveraging Folia Insights and spotting Patterns over time.

  • ๐Ÿƒ Research sharing: Folia gives you the option to contribute anonymous, de-identified data to health research through our Data Dividends program - and earn money for participating. Participation is your choice and can be changed in your Settings at any time. Learn more about Data Dividends and how we protect your privacy.

Here's what to do next if you still need to set up your Journal!

  1. โœ๏ธ Add your Observations. Observations are anything you want to track about how you're feeling - symptoms, energy, mood, sleep, and more. You may already have some based on what you entered when you went through the Folia onboarding flow, but you can always adjust or add more. Everyone starts off with two default Observations in their Folia Journal: Meals & Diet and Sleep (you can remove these if you don't want to track them).

    It can be helpful to start with just a few things to track consistently - for example, your most bothersome symptoms or whatever you most want to understand, overall energy or mood, and sleep quality. That's enough to start seeing patterns! You can always add more once tracking becomes a habit. Learn more about Observation tracking.

  2. ๐Ÿ’Š Add your Treatments. Treatments are the things you do to manage your health - medications, supplements, therapies, or daily habits like exercise, meditation, or hydration.

    Tracking even one or two treatments helps you keep a record and notice patterns and answer questions over time - like how has my fatigue been since starting that new medication? You can also set up Treatment schedules and reminders. Learn more about Treatment tracking.

  3. ๐Ÿ“ฒ Track today - then come back whenever you have something to add! Once your Observations and Treatments are added and you've tracked for today, come back whenever you have something to note. Tracking in Folia takes about 90 seconds or less per day.

    You can even set up daily tracking reminders if you'd like. Here's how to set reminders up:

    1. Open the Folia app and go to the Profile tab (bottom right of screen)

    2. Tap Account Management

    3. Tap Notification Settings

    4. Toggle on the reminders you'd like - including real-time tracking reminders and scheduled treatment reminders
