How to Track in Folia

A guide on tracking the details of your day in Folia

Folia is your day-to-day health Journal that's designed so you can track everything you want, in the way that you want! With each entry you add in Folia, you capture your health story and build actionable Insights that you can use over time.

You can use your Folia Journal as frequently as you want; you don't need to track every day for it to be helpful. The more you track, the richer your Insights become!

🍃 How to Track Your Day

Tracking the Type of Day

In addition to tracking specific symptoms or treatments, Folia lets you track how your day was at a high-level. You can track how today was by clicking "Check in" from the Home tab, or going directly to your Journal (Calendar icon). Then, select one of the leaf icons to answer the question for today with: Difficult, Typical, Good, or Great.

Tracking the "type of day" at a high-level lets you spot patterns while you use your Folia data over time, connecting the dots between what you experienced, what you did, and how you felt. Learn more about type of day tracking.

To track more details from your day, like specific symptoms or anything you did to manage your health that day, you can record Observations, Treatments, or the context of your day in your Journal, too.

Date Selection

You can select which date you want to track for in the Journal by sliding horizontally and tapping on the day you want to track for.

You can also click on the Calendar icon shown in the top-right above to see a month-by-month Calendar, which will also allow you to select multiple days at once to track for (except for dates in the future) or filter the Calendar by what you have already tracked to spot trends or patterns.

Observations

You can track symptoms in the Observations section! If you already have Observations set up, clicking into a symptom card lets you note things like how severe symptoms were, which symptoms you had, how many times you noticed a specific symptom, a specific measurement (like blood pressure), the timing of a specific symptom, and you can even add tags and notes associated with that symptom, too.

If you need to edit your symptom tracking, you can click the three dots on the symptom card or the gear icon next to Observations. You can also click "Add" to search for an existing Observation to track or add a new one.

The Journal is meant to be very flexible to track all the relevant details of your health, and our team is always available to help you get your Journal set up or adjusted. Learn more about Observation tracking.

What Else Happened?

You can track any other details that may have been relevant to your day in the "What Else Happened?" section of your Journal. This includes adding notes about your day, tags (like, "travel day"), or images (like photos of symptoms or anything else you want to refer back to).

Tracking "What else happened?" allows you to capture the full picture and eventually piece together connections between how you were feeling and what else was going on. Learn more about tracking the context of your day.

Treatments

You can track medications and anything else you are doing for your health (for example, exercise or fluid intake) in the Treatments section! You can track which treatments you completed, and you can even track that you skipped a specific treatment and add a reason for skipping.

Your treatments will show up in your Journal based on your treatment schedules and details in your Treatment Home, which you can access and edit at any time by clicking the gear icon next to Treatments (or "Manage Treatments" from the Quick Actions tab). Treatments that have the same schedule will display together in a group in the Journal. Learn more about Treatment tracking.

Flares

You can add a Flare to the Journal by clicking on the Track a Flare button.

When your symptoms seem worse than usual on a given day, we may suggest you track a Flare, which will look like the screen below. It's totally up to you whether you then want to track a Flare or not!

If you do track Flares in Folia, you can use your Calendar Filters to visualize tracked Flare days, including tracked details on Flare descriptions, management, and triggers. This can be a useful way to reflect back on how often you experienced Flare days, what they were like, what you did when you experienced them, and what may have triggered them. Learn more about Flare tracking

Visits

You can also track any health appointments or visits with providers in the Folia app in the Events section. You can access Events by clicking the Quick Actions tab (gear icon) and then Manage Events. This allows you to note the goal of your visit, any relevant notes, and what happened at the visit.

🗓️ Your Calendar Filters reflect your tracking

Whether it's every day or just once a week, come back and track whenever it makes sense for you.

When you want to zoom out and visualize what you've tracked in Folia, click the Calendar icon in your Journal tab and use the filters to focus your view. Learn more about Calendar Filters.

As you continue to track in Folia, your Insights tab will automatically build, which you can use to increase awareness, make decisions, and communicate with anyone you choose to share your health experiences with.
