How can I track a flare?

Folia's dedicated flare form makes it easy to log what's happening.

A flare is when symptoms temporarily increase in number or intensity and can last anywhere from a few days to weeks. (1) When managing a complex or chronic condition, it is important to pay attention to these atypical events since flares often come quickly with or without a trigger and can be difficult to manage. (2)

How do I track my flares?

There are two ways you can capture a flare.

  • "Track a flare" button: At the top of your Journal, the "Track a flare" button is always available for you to add a flare at anytime.

  • Flare Suggestion: Folia will also prompt you for possible flares based on your tracked observations if you've tracked something above baseline. You can choose to add the flare or return to your Journal.

What is the Flare Form?

The Flare Form is designed to easily capture the most important details about your flares in a quick, structured way so you can leverage flare insights. You can add your own custom tags by tapping 'Add/Edit' for each section.

We know that flares can vary from condition to condition, so we tried to customize the flare form to match your lived experience as best as possible.

What can I do with Flare insights?

You can visualize patterns with your flares through Calendar Filters, and you can view flare insights in the Insights tab (lightbulb icon).

These insights can help you:

  • Spot triggers

  • Understand frequency of flares to see how your health is trending over time

  • Plan accordingly if there are any cyclical or predictable patterns with your flares
