How to track your menstrual cycle

Tracking your menstrual cycle can give clues into cyclical, hormonal changes

Written by Jordan Owashi

If you're someone who is menstruating, pinpointing changes that happen alongside hormonal fluctuations can help you find management strategies to prevent future flare-ups linked to your cycle. Here's how to track your menstrual cycle alongside your other symptoms and observations:

  1. Add the "Menstruation" observation in your Journal: If you add it as a Yes/No observation, you can simply track the days you’re having menstrual bleeding. If you want to track how heavy your bleeding is, you can use a Severity Scale (0-5).

  2. Track your symptoms as usual, including the days of your period

3. Graph your observations to see your patterns

Tracking your menstrual cycle as a flare trigger:

If your menstrual cycle causes flare-ups, you can also use the "Menstrual cycle/period" tag in your Flare Form. If you do not see this option, you can add it by clicking "+Add/Edit" and typing "Menstrual cycle/period" and tapping "Create 'Menstrual cycle/period'". This way you can see how often menstruation triggers a flare-up in your Insights.
